We gave out a parent survey in September of 2007 at our monthly parent dinner. We generally have 80% of the CFC parents attend our parent dinners. We asked them to complete this survey and asked them not to put their name on it. We asked them to be honest. We had 10 parents complete the surveys- enough for us to tabulate.

    Only those parents whose child has been in our program for at least a year completed this survey. But of the 10 families who completed the survey, we were very happy with the results. Parents reported that the following things have appeared or increased in their own child's life since attending CFC.

Moral Character and faith-based issues:

• Child cares about others more and helps them - 40%

   Child tells the truth, even when it’s hard - 50%

• Child is comfortable with different people (cultural race) - 60%

• Child considers others feelings - 50%

• Child is more willing to forgive since attending CFC - 90%

• Child’s behavior has improved - 90%

• Child has helped teach my child more about God -100%

• I chose to send my child here because they will learn about God - 90%

  CFC has increased my child’s belief that God is a Father who loves them - 100% agree

• CFC has helped me as a parent to get closer to God - 90%

Social Skills:

• Child helps in the community - 70%

• Child plans ahead and makes choices -50%

• Child resists negative peer pressure - 40%

• Child resolves conflict without hitting - 30%

   Child thinks its important not to be involved with drugs, alcohol,           and sex - 50%

• Child feels my life has purpose and has a positive view of the future - 50%

Academic Performance:

• Academic performance has improved - 80%

• Child’s attitude towards school has improved - 70%

• Child has motivation to do well in school - 60%

• Child puts effort into learning - 50%

• Child completes homework - 50%

Parents helped:

   CFC has helped me and my family in many ways, 100% agree

   If CFC were not here, I could find another program that would help us as much - 80% disagree

   If CFC were not around I have friends and family who would help as much- 90% disagree

   Parent dinners help me show support for my child - 100% agree

   I find the parent discussions helpful - 90% agree

   CFC has helped me with housing issues - 70% agree

   CFC has helped me with a job situation - 50%

CFC has helped me out with difficult family situation - 70%

   CFC has helped me communicate better with the school -70%

We found that over 50% reported a 50% increase in the developmental assets found to help families be more resilient

This is not a truly scientific survey and the answers are subjective to the parents, but we are encouraged with the anonymous responses and it appears that the parents feel we are making a difference to their families. In our opinion the CFC parents are the best judge of how we are impacting their children and their own lives.
