After School Program...

Monday through Thursday, students from first grade through eighth grade are picked up from several different schools in the city of Harrisburg to attend our after school program.  The Center strives to empower these students through Christ by providing the following opportunities:

Chapel: Gives students time in their day to focus on the Lord by reading Scripture, praying and worshiping.

Individual Homework Assistance: Homework is a very important      componant of the Center.  Students are given as much one on one help as possible.

Drug & Alcohol Prevention: With the help of Dauphin County DNA, students are taught the dangers of drugs, alcohol and cigaretts.

Life Skills Classes: Character and moral development is built through various age appropriate classes and activities.

Incentive Trips: Students have the opportunity to earn field trips based on good behavior and homework completion.  Some recent trips have been rollerskating, a corn-maze and apple picking at Paulus Orchards, and a trip to the IMAX theator, thanks to the Whitaker Center!

Tutoring Program...

Students who need extra academic help have the opportunity to participate in the Tutoring Program on Tuesday evenings.  The primary objective of the Tutoring Program is to come alongside the students and their parents by connecting with their teachers to determine their academic needs and the best plan to meet those needs.  A new point based incentive gives students a sense of ownership and accomplishment! If interested in helping with the tutoring program, please contact the Center and ask for Linda Semke or Kirsten Ware.

“I think tutoring is a great way to help kids catch up on homework.  It also can help improve grades.  I like it because since I came here my grade improved from a C to an A.” ~Malik
